Annual Statistics

Statistics through September 2024 from my summary log kept in Excel:

2025 1st cruise: 84 days. 337.5 hours at sea, 27 night hours (minimal as many of the longer legs were in what counted for high summer in Scotland), 1,602 NM, 1,844 SM, 44 days at sea, 28 weather bound. 47 nights at anchor. For the third year on the trot cut short, although not by much, for a family issues, although this time I had notice and it wasn't a rush.

Cruises in 2023 & 2024 were cut short by 3 or 4 weeks due to family emergencies and in 2024 further by bad weather, if they hadn't been the mileage and hours at sea in 2023 would have been much the same as in 2022 and in 2024 higher.

2025, cut short in case of a family issue that did not happen so 10 days faffing about around Milford (not included in the stats) to qualify for 2 months free extension to berthing contract. 2nd cruise now in doubt due to wife's hospital stay, dates unknown, and recuperation.

"Days" are days on board away from home base, similarly nights are nights away from base and not at sea.

"Days Sailing" are days when I was at sea or moving through a Canal.

The count of places above (marina, mooring or anchorage) visited includes every visit to a location; as of June 2025 there were 189 different locations.

Anchorages and Marinas, pontoons etc. covered as at 26th June 2025.
Days weather bound were generally for strong winds and / or heavy seas but occasionally they were for adverse fresh winds or no wind on long legs (e.g. round Land's End to Wales or Ireland and Peterhead to Orkney).

On weather bound days I tend to be safely tucked away in a marina or on a Buoy (the latter mainly at Plockton and Tobermory)  with at least some facilities near by, hence the low percentage of nights at anchor in 2021 (40%) and 2022 (41%) compared with around 56 - 67% in other years.
